Jawai safari questions, answered

Where is Jawai and how do I get there?
Jawai sits around Jawai Bandh in Pali district, southern Rajasthan, in the granite hills of the Aravalli range between Udaipur and Jodhpur. The nearest railway station is Jawai Bandh, and the closest airports are Udaipur and Jodhpur — both are a comfortable road journey away. Tell us how you are arriving and we will arrange your transfer as part of the booking.
How long does a Jawai leopard safari last?
Sunrise and sunset safaris each run about three hours, timed so you are in the hills during the hours leopards are most active. A private jeep safari can be booked as a half day or a full day, with timings shaped around you.
How much does a Jawai leopard safari cost?
A sunrise or sunset safari is ₹3,500 per jeep — that is the whole open jeep for up to six guests, not a per-person rate. A private jeep safari is ₹8,400–14,000 per jeep, depending on whether you take a half or a full day. Every rate includes the jeep, your naturalist, all permits, refreshments and hotel pickup and drop, so there is nothing further to pay at the gate.
Is the 30% discount still available?
Yes — 30% off every safari until 31 October 2026. The rates shown across the site already have the discount applied, so there is no code to enter. Request a callback before that date and we hold the discounted rate for your booking.
How many people share a jeep?
Our sunrise and sunset safaris carry up to six guests in an open-top 4×4 with a naturalist. A private jeep safari is exclusive to your group, however many of you there are, so nobody else joins the vehicle.
What is included in a safari?
Every safari includes the open-top 4×4 jeep, an expert naturalist guide, all park permits, refreshments — morning tea on sunrise safaris, evening snacks on sunset safaris — and hotel pickup and drop. Private safaris add a senior naturalist, refreshments throughout, and all transfers.
Do I need a forest permit for a Jawai safari?
You do not need to arrange anything yourself. All permits required for the safari zones are included in your booking and handled by our team before you arrive.
Should I choose the sunrise or the sunset safari?
Both are excellent, and many guests do one of each. At sunrise the hills are cool and the light turns the boulders gold as leopards move across the rocks. At sunset the desert cools, leopards emerge to hunt, and the sky behind the granite outcrops turns crimson — the more dramatic light for photography.
Are leopard sightings guaranteed?
No responsible operator can guarantee a sighting of a wild animal, and we will not promise one. What we can promise is that our naturalists live on these hills, track leopard movement daily, and take you out at the hours when the chances are highest. Jawai's leopards are unusually habituated to people, which is why the region has become known for its encounters.
When is the best time of year to visit Jawai?
October to March brings the most comfortable weather, with cool mornings that call for a jacket in the open jeep. April to June is hot, but leopards and other wildlife concentrate around water, which can make for rewarding sightings. The monsoon months turn the landscape green and dramatic. We will talk you through the trade-offs for your dates when we call.
What should I bring on the safari?
Dress in layers — early mornings and evenings are colder in an open jeep than you expect — and choose muted, neutral colours. Sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and a camera with a zoom lens are all worth packing. We carry bottled water for you.
What else is there to do in Jawai besides the safari?
Quite a lot, and the jeep drives only take up a few hours of the day. We also run bird watching around the reservoir, a dam safari along the Jawai Bandh shoreline, guided hill climbing on the granite outcrops, nature walks on foot with a naturalist, and village walks with the Rabari shepherd community. Any of these can be added to a safari booking — mention what interests you when we call.
Is a Jawai safari suitable for families and children?
Yes. A private jeep safari is usually the best fit for families, because the timing and pace are yours to set and you are not sharing the vehicle. Mention who is travelling when you request a callback and we will suggest the right option.
How do I book, and do I have to pay upfront?
Share your dates and group size through the booking form and our team calls you back — usually within a few hours, and always between 8 AM and 9 PM IST. There is no upfront payment to request a callback; we confirm availability and the details with you first. You can also reach us on WhatsApp or by phone if you would rather talk straight away.
