Where you're going
Jawai lies around the Jawai Bandh reservoir in Pali district, southern Rajasthan, in the granite hills of the Aravalli range between Udaipur and Jodhpur. There are no fences here: leopards shelter in caves in the outcrops and Rabari shepherds move their flocks below them, as both have done for generations.
Granite boulders and hills above a reservoir, with scrub, farmland and shepherd trails between them — open country rather than dense forest.
Leopards are the draw, alongside peacocks, langur, nilgai and hyena. The reservoir pulls in migratory birds through the winter.
Jawai Bandh is the nearest railway station; Udaipur and Jodhpur are the closest airports. We include hotel pickup and drop with every safari.
